Assistance with Tutoring / Mentoring Programs with Community Renaissance
If you have an afterschool program with an academic, recreational, environmental, or spiritual focus, the Center for Community Research and Engagement (CCRE) can help. We currently train and send over 250 undergraduates per week into neighboring communities to volunteer at well-established and structured afterschool programs. If you are interested in learning more, call Saul Petersen, CCRE Director, at (973) 275-5882, or e-mail Saul.Petersen@shu.edu for details.
Nonprofit Organization Project Assistance with Seton Hall Experiential Learning and Leadership through Service (SHELLS)
CCRE is pleased to announce the fall 2009 - spring 2010 cycle of the Seton Hall Experiential Learning and Leadership through Service (SHELLS) program. This program gives local nonprofit agencies the opportunity to receive project and technical assistance from Seton Hall University undergraduate students. Proposals will be accepted on a competitive basis. Teams of students from various undergraduate programs, supervised by Seton Hall faculty, will work on projects as part of their coursework during the fall and spring semesters. Nonprofit applicants must demonstrate an interest in and an ability to work with students in developing and implementing the projects. Call Saul Petersen, CCRE Director, at (973) 275-5882, e-mail Saul.Petersen@shu.edu for details. You can also obtain the application for assistance by clicking here.
Nonprofit Organization Operating Assistance with On-Site Student Services
In recent years, CCRE has established specific service opportunities with several neighboring nonprofit organizations (NPO). In these cases, the NPO has provided ways in which Seton Hall students can volunteer at the NPO site, assist in your operations, and, in doing so, interact with others in a meaningful way that is beneficial to all.
An example of this partnership is CCRE's "Innovators Program" at Satori Athletic Organization. The goals of this partnership is:
- Providing an innovative service learning experience for SHU students.
- Students learn about their career aspirations while “giving back”.
- Students volunteer 3-4 hours a week functioning as aides in the SAO organization according to the discipline chosen.
