The Department of Catholic Studies offers a BA Major in Catholic
Studies, a Minor in Catholic Studies, and a Certificate in Catholic
Studies. Our goal is to educate big minds and big hearts. Catholic
Studies faculty are highly trained and have substantial experience in
teaching and research. Each of our faculty displays intellectual
vitality and excellence in one or more areas of teaching and research.
They are dedicated teachers and researchers who hold the highest
academic degrees and are open to the fullness of Truth across
disciplines . They listen carefully, take to heart the dialogue between
faith and reason, and genuinely believe in the human capacity to advance
along the path of Truth. This lofty aspiration of finding the authentic
Truth and putting it into action is the most precious gift that
Catholic Studies faculty can give to our students.
For Catholic Studies faculty, education means to form our students in
all fields of human knowledge; to understand, to encourage and to
support them in the path of human maturation; and to lead them to know
and change themselves and transform the world. Our faculty are active in
research and publication and have won governmental and nongovernmental
awards including Fulbright, National Endowment for the Humanities,
Humboldt Research Grants and other prestigious awards.
