Jazz ' n the Hall Series

Seton Hall University's Arts Council presents a dynamic three concert series from Jazz 'n the Hall featuring some of America's most accomplished jazz musicians. Trace the international roots of jazz with Latin-Afro-Cuban influenced rhythms through the big band sound of  20th century's great jazz composers in this series dedicated to presenting the best in American jazz music.

 

Luis Bonilla, Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz
October 20, 7:30 p.m.

BonillaGRAMMY®- winning Afro-Cuban/Latin Jazz trombonist, composer and bandleader, Luis Bonilla, "explodes the usual musical structures of both kinds of music" NY Times. Bonilla is a prominent force in the NY and international Jazz and Latin scenes. The energetic and improvisational performance of his Afro-Cuban/Latin Jazz ensemble will, quite literally, move you in your seat. 

 

The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra
November 10, 7:30 p.m.

Jazz OrchestraThis 16-piece modern big band, established by Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, continues its 42 year old Monday night tradition at the world famous Village Vanguard night club. Winner of a 2009 Grammy for best large Jazz ensemble, the Vanguard will take a break from its NYC venue with a special performance for Jazz n the Hall. "One of New York's institutions... its strengths are its colors and its soloists." NY Times.

  The Seton Hall University Jazz Ensemble
March 23, 7:30 p.m.

Jazz 'n the Hall features home grown talent with the music of Ellington, Monk, Adderly and other jazz legends performed by the Seton Hall University Jazz Ensemble. The Ensemble is made up of professional musicians from the University's faculty as well as guest artists that include a 2009 Grammy award winner.
