AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program
  • For undergraduate seniors, recent graduates, and graduate/PhD students in the fields of the natural, physical, health, engineering, computer, or social sciences or mathematics. Participants serve a 10-week fellowship in a newsroom, helping to spread science knowledge to the public and enhance coverage of science-related issues in the media.
  • Award: $450 weekly stipend for the duration of the program, as well as travel expenses.
  • Deadline: Last deadline was January 15, 2012.

  • For nurses seeking to progress to the next level of certification. Applicants must have been a member of AMSN for at least one year prior to applying for scholarship.
  • Award: $1,000
  • Deadline: May 15 every year.
 
  • For juniors, seniors, or graduate students studying physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, or hearing audiology. Requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Awards: Range from $500 to $6,000.
  • Deadline: Application period is from mid-January to April 15th each year. 
 
  • Undergraduate and graduate nursing students with experience in critical care nursing. Minimum GPA 3.0.  Must be a member of AACN.
  • Award: Up to $3,000 per academic year.
  • Deadline: Applications accepted at any time.
 
  • For graduate students pursuing master’s degrees in cancer nursing.  Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.
  • Award: May be for two years, with stipend of $10,000 per year.
  • Deadline: February 1 every year. 
 
  • For sophomore nursing students.  Criteria: Full-time, at least a 3.0 GPA, interested in pursing a career in the health industry, a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S., and demonstrating financial need.  Administered through the Independent Colleges of NJ. 
  • Award: 8 awards each year of $2,500.
  • Deadline: March 31 every year. 
 
  • For full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate nursing majors who have completed at least one semester of coursework.  Scholarship application requires the completion of several essay questions.  U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students who have a student visa for study in the U.S. are invited to apply.
  • Award: $1,000 first place, $500 runner up.
  • Deadlines: March 1st and November 1st every year.
 
  • Students receive a scholarship in exchange for agreeing to work for 2 years, post-graduation, in certain types of health care facilities with critical nurse shortages.  Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, enrolled in a nursing program at any degree level.  Preference given to full-time undergraduate students.
  • Award: Covers tuition, fees, assorted school related costs, and includes a stipend (was $1,326 for the 2010-2011 school year).
  • Next application cycle: Last deadline was in April/May 2011.
 
College of Nursing Scholarships - Seton Hall University
  • Seton Hall student in the College of Nursing. Some other requirements vary depending on scholarship.

  • Award: Over $75,000 in awards, ranging from $500 - $3000.
  • Deadline: August 15 every year.
 
  • Black students from the Newark area enrolled in a nursing program demonstrating leadership qualities.

  • Graduate students in MBA, MHA, or related programs who have a strong interest in academic medical centers, financial management, and hospital operations. Must have graduated at start of program.
  • Award: Two year fellowship program, designed to foster insight into the dynamics of an academic medical center and health system, while allowing for development of individual interests. Fellows gain familiarity with diverse revenue cycle organizational issues throughout the health system and practical administrative experience via involvement in various projects and their rotations.
  • Deadline: Last deadline was September 30, 2011. No new information is yet available.
 
  • Graduate students in MBA, MHA, or related programs who have a strong interest in academic medical centers, financial management, and hospital operations. Must have graduated at start of program.
  • Award: Two year fellowship program, provides development opportunities that foster the learning of competencies critical to the success of healthcare leaders, an understanding of the structure of Duke University Hospital and Health System, and an appreciation of the complexities of academic medicine.
  • Deadline: Last deadline was September 30, 2011. No new information is yet available.
 
  •  Seniors and graduate students interested in studying at Cambridge University.  Ideal candidates will be able to show evidence of high academic achievement, leadership potential, social commitment and a good fit with Cambridge.  Student must be admitted to Cambridge through normal admission procedures.
  • Award: 80-100 new scholarships a year enable student leaders from around the world to obtain graduate degrees in critical areas of interest at Cambridge University. Covers tuition fees, maintenance allowance, and international transportation costs.
  • Deadline: Last deadlines were October 15 for US citizens currently undertaking a degree program in the USA or currently residing in the USA; December 1 for citizens of all countries other than the USA (except the United Kingdom) and US citizens currently residing outside of the USA.
 
Marcia Granucci Scholarship Fund
  • New Jersey residents, full- or part-time graduate students, who are interested in pursuing an educational concentration in psychiatric/mental health or community health nursing. Must have current licensure and demonstrated acceptance into a graduate nursing program of National League of Nursing Accredited educational institution. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

    Award: One scholarship annually, up to $2,000.
  • Deadline: June 1 every year.
 
  • These government scholarships are provided in exchange for a contractual agreement to work at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses upon graduation.  For U.S. citizens or nationals who are full and part-time nursing students, undergraduate and graduate, demonstrating financial need.
  • Award: Covers tuition, fees, some additional academic costs, and a monthly stipend ($1,326 for the 2010-11 school year).
  • Deadline: Last deadline was June 1, 2011.
 
  • For those attending or planning to attend school to become a physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, clinical psychologist or physician assistant.  Upon graduation, required to join the Navy's active duty team as a commissioned officer.  See website for more specific details.
  • Award: Up to 4 years of tuition and additional school costs covered, as well as a $2,060 monthly stipend.
  • Deadline: Applications accepted at any time.
 
  • Seniors and graduates who demonstrate a commitment to social and health care justice advocacy following their year of hands-on experience as a fellow. Fellows must commit to mentoring at least one person at some point over the course of their careers. One fellowship per year.  Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Award: One-year fellowship. The Villers Fellow works as a full-time policy analyst in Families USA's Health Policy Department. Fellows will receive a compensatory package that includes an annual salary of approximately $38,000 and excellent health care benefits.
  • Deadline: Last deadline was January 10, 2012.
 
  • Seniors and graduates who demonstrate an interest in health care policy as a tool for reducing racial and ethnic health disparities, and demonstrate a commitment to contributing to social justice work following their year of hands-on experience as a fellow. One fellowship per year. Minorities are encouraged to apply.
  • Award: One-year fellowship. The Wellstone Fellow plays an integral role in the work of Families USA's Minority Health Initiatives Department. Fellows will receive a compensatory package that includes an annual salary of approximately $38,000 and excellent health care benefits.
