Must be a current graduate student either currently in a Ph.D. program or intending to enroll in one in the future. Thirteen annual scholarships for graduate research are awarded. Student must be nominated by their department. Priority given to 1st or 2nd year graduate students studying psychology.

Award: Top applicant will receive the $5,000 Harry and Miriam Levinson Scholarship, the second place applicant will receive the $3,000 Ruth G. and Joseph D. Matarazzo Scholarship; and the third place applicant will receive the $2,000 Clarence J. Rosecrans Scholarship. Ten other finalists will receive $1,000 each.

For full-time graduate students in neuropsychology who have completed a doctoral candidacy. Candidates must present a record of achievement that would indicate a promising career in the field as well as a project budget. The application must be co-signed by the candidate's faculty mentor or director of training after he or she has certified the accuracy of the student's information.

For U.S. citizens who have earned a Bachelor's degree and are pursuing, on a full-time basis, an advanced degree in psychology or psychiatric nursing. Post graduation, recipients of the scholarship have a minimum 3-year active duty service obligation in the U.S. Army within the field of their specialty.

National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship- For U.S. citizens or nationals in the last year of their undergraduate work or in the first two years of their graduate work who will pursue or are pursing a doctoral degree in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, etc.), computer science, engineering, mathematics, or psychology.
- Award: 3-year appointment includes full tuition and required fees, a monthly stipend, and up to $1,000 a year of medical coverage.

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program- The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, psychology, social work, history, public health, social work, business administration/management, and education (except research-focused STEM education programs). Applicants must be pursuing research-based Master's and doctoral degrees in the U.S. and abroad. Women, minorities, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
- Award: Fellows benefit from a three-year annual stipend of $30,000 along with a $10,500 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees, a one-time $1,000 travel allowance and the freedom to conduct their own research at any accredited U.S., or foreign institution of graduate education they choose. Also provides TeraGrid Supercomputer access.

Nursing Home Abuse Scholarship- For U.S. citizens earning a degree in nursing, social work, psychology, or healthcare administration and planning on working with the senior citizen population or helping to combat nursing home abuse. Applicants must already be receiving some other type of financial aid.

The Rachel Tanur Prize for Visual Sociology- For all current students majoring in the social sciences, including anthropology, communication studies, criminal justice, cultural studies, economics, education, history, political science, psychology, sociology, and social work. Applicants must submit two commentaries, each no more than 4000 characters (~500 words) in length, and one photo. One commentary must be based on one or more of the photos by Rachel Tanur and one must be based on an original photo taken by the applicant. Each commentary is expected to give a sociological analysis of the selected visual material, based on theoretical and applied social science methods. See the page of past winners for examples.
- Award: 1st prize: $2,500; 2nd prize: $1,500; 3rd prize: $500.

SMART Scholarship- Open to undergraduate and graduate-level U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years of age, able to participate in summer internships as part of the scholarship program, willing to accept post-graduate employment with the Department of Defense, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and are majoring in one of the following subjects: biology, chemistry, behavioral sciences, computer science, engineering, math, or physics.
- Award: Includes full tuition and education related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking); a cash award paid at a rate of $25,000 - $41,000 depending on prior educational experience (may be prorated depending on award length); paid summer internships; health Insurance reimbursement allowance up to $1,200 per calendar year; book allowance of $1,000 per academic year; mentoring; employment placement after graduation.

Supports graduate-level scholarly projects that use a psychological perspective to help understand and reduce stigma associated with mental illness. The scholarship helps address research that shows that stigma is a significant barrier to treatment and recovery for many of the 50 million Americans living with mental illness. § Applicants must be graduate students in psychology enrolled full time and in good standing at accredited universities. APF encourages proposals from individuals who represent diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, and sexual orientation.
